7 slope sides open at Bromont, montagne d'expériences

Bromont, February 4, 2016 – On Wednesday, February 3, at approximately 6:55 pm, a major fire broke out at the base of chairlift #5 at the Versant du Lac on Huntington Road in Bromont. Despite the incident, the Versant du Lac remains open and accessible to our clients.

The blaze started at the operator’s post at the base of the lift, where the electrical controls are located. Due to poor weather, the resort was closed at the time : no employees or clients were on site. At this point, the cause of the fire is believed to be electrical. An investigation is underway with the collaboration of Bromont, montagne d'expériences, and chairlift manufacturer Doppelmayr, who are working tirelessly to remedy the situation as rapidly as possible.

Given the extent of the damage, chairlift #5 has been shut down for an undetermined period, but the Versant du Lac remains open and the runs are accessible and skiable. Skiers can now access the Versant du Lac from the nearby Versant du Village or Versant des Épinettes. Chairlift #6 at the Versant des Épinettes has officially replaced the out-of-service lift. Bromont, montagne d'expériences, is doing everything in its power at finding creative solutions to make sure the entire skiable terrain is available to clients. The 7 slope sides can still be accessed via the 8 remaining chairlifts; the P5 parking lot and Chalet du Lac will be reopened to the public as soon as possible.

With the cold weather on the way shortly, our teams are turning their full attention to snow production and trail maintenance in order to guarantee optimal coverage and the best snow conditions possible.
